The Duchess. The Duchess is my latest obsession. I was introduced to the Duchess Bake Shop about 3 months ago and my obsession has only grown since. For those of you who are familiar with the Duchess - you understand. For those of you not yet familiar with the Duchess, let me familiarize you with it. It has been blogged on, raved about, word-of-mouthed, newspaper articled...lots and lots of lovely things written and said about it - all good things and, to my knowledge, all grand things even. Love. It's love. I love it. I love the Duchess. I realize that obsessing over something is never a good thing...but in this particular case, I am BEYOND willing to make allowances for the Duchess. Now, I'm not talking about a royal hoity toity so-and-so who is high and mighty and acts as though she might have a red hot poker stuck up her bum...not that kind of Duchess. I'm talking about a bake shop...a bakery and cafe...*sweetly sighing* It's like a perfect collision of two favorite worlds and it's right here in Edmonton. Delightful hot beverages and delectably delicious sweets, treats and pastries and all within the quaintest little bit of space you ever did lay your lovely eyes on. It's love. There's no denying - it's lurve. I'd stalk it if I could but it's difficult to stalk a cafe. It's just always there...the stalking part just has no mystery or sense of thrill...and also, stalking is illegal. So, just being in love with the Duchess Bake Shop will have to be enough. It certainly is for now. My mid-section and thighs say "No!" but my taste buds and heart cry "Oh hell yeah!" I think I've recently inducted a new follower into the Duchess cafe cult...my beautiful all that is wonderful best friend was up this past weekend visiting from Calgary and I introduced her to the Duchess on Sunday morning. It was love for her too! You cannot help but just immensely enjoy it! So much goodness! Lattes and macarons and Earl Grey shortbread!!! You all know how I feel about Earl Grey...he's my favorite. It was just perfect and lovely and every good thing a morning should be after a late night of dancing about. So, if you are in Edmonton or ever happen to be in Edmonton sometime in the future, you really need to go and sit in the Duchess and order up some of her freshly baked goodness and drink her ever tasty hot beverages. You won't regret it...except maybe if you get attached-slash-obsessed like me and then you have to leave Edmonton for whatever reason and you go through the Duchess withdrawl...then you might regret it...but likely not. It's so worth it!
Just look at all that goodness!!!
Yummy treats that I love - Lavendar and Rose Macarons and Earl Grey Shortbread...num num num
Nita and I enjoying our morning after some fine jig dancing and then a morning latte and sugary eats...too fun

Loved this post on your visit to Duchess! I posted a link to it on the Duchess website as well.

Justin! Thanks for the link! I'm a bit of a stats addict - this was great! Thanks for enjoying my post too! Great website for the Duchess, by the by! It's just such an incredible and delightful little spot and so it was so insanely easy to give the Duchess some posted props! Nita - Etown - Christmastime - Duchess - you and me - I'm on it! I promise I will not let the Duchess forget you! Warming the seat, as we speak...lol. I'm seriously addicted. Go Team Duchess!

Word on the street is that the Duchess will be moving over to the space where the Tu Gallery was (they just closed permanently). Much larger space and bound to be very very good.
